Do We Run Alone?

Solitary Runs

Often I have run alone amongst long winding paths.
The trees and river my only companion.
It is a spiritual connection to my body.
Faster and faster my heart beats sending the blood racing through my body.
It grabs oxygen from my lungs and sends them to my calves which pump in relentless determination.
My mind wanders through my day.
Memories and associations form like a web of reality,
then my spirit lifts beyond mere facts;
it transcends to a higher level of nirvanic consciousness.

Through this total connection with the purely physical being that I know to be myself. I don't know what will happen when this coat of flesh turns to worms meat. I only know that it will, and all too soon.
So I revel in this short period where I may touch it.

With the Pack

An antelope or a lion?

I run with a pack,
our thundering sound making it's way
through a concrete Savanna
chasing the antelope
fleeing the lions

The crowd cheers us on
we are a part of history
threading it's way through time

before Phidippides before Lucy
before the human race

And we will be here forever
we are immortal!
