Liz worked on headstands last night. I am getting there, I can almost kick-up without assistance. I can't tell if it is that I lack the strength to get my legs (and ass) up or if I need to overcome fear of tipping over. I do know that I can hover tentatively for a moment before clunking back to the ground.

Master Ali helped us with forms. I can tell I am improving because this time he waited until the first move to offer correction. The last time he started at "ready position". The higher your rank the more exacting the instruction becomes. There is no end to the detail.

Whole Foods Superstore.

What has happened to the place? When I first moved to Austin I would go to the little Whole Foods on Lamar and sit in a booth with a bunch of slackers and talke about...well, nothing. I remember when they expanded the place, moving it over to sixth and Lamar and turning it into a giant supermarket. It was a bit of a culture shock, but I found a nice little slacker zone out front. It quickly became my favorite place to go after runs. Why the new Whole Foods turned out better than the original. They even partnered with Book People, another highly favorite Austin Slacker Zone.

So when they opened this giant Whole Foods Supperstore I thought, "well, maybe I will get used to it"...I am still waiting. It is a crowded and noisy place with long lines. When you get your food you go to other crowded noisy places to sit down. Whole Foods has always been a little pricey, but there used to be some cheap items...not anymore. I just about walked out when the price of a small salad box was $9.99...give me a break...no salad is worth it.

So, if you want atmosphere like Walmarts but don't want your dollar to go as far, just drop into Austin's newest Superstore on sixth and Lamar.

The sad part is I will probably go there again.

Wei Ji, or Go has been my latest obsession. For the past three weeks scarcely a day goes by without playing a game or two, or more. This game is intriguing, predating all known games by about a 1000 years, with more possible outcomes than subatomic particles in the universe.

It is so simple, with only a few rules, some black stones, some white stones and a 19X19 grid. You can learn to play in about 5 minutes, yet from these simple elements the ultimate game of strategy arises.
