How do you feel today?

 Ongoing - an excerpt

and he
watches me as I walk
he sees me as the shadow sees the sun
far away, vague
rough around the edges

like sun from behind a cloud

***************************

knights in shining armor
wizards, hands held high in spell-binding readiness
they stand guard and comfort me
I have faith
this blackredblueblinding hurt will fade
like childhood, set aside on a dusty windowsill
eclipsed by brighter days
and the laughter of a boy named jordan,
who calls me mom
and gives me butterfly kisses,
who sees the world as hopeful,
and runs, smiling, into my open arms

Forces
I walked
   into the bright sunlight
and felt myself a different person -
my shadow
   taller on the ground,
   my face radiant
days of such subtle glory
bring tears to my eyes,
 and stand out
as rare petals on a fated rose

flying lessons
***********************************
and where did you learn to fly?
she learned
on long rolling hills
where hazes drifted,
and soft winds...
in darkness thick with loneliness
in a whirlwind
with bright waters rippling beneath her
the earth circling the sun
and spinning her towards the end...
though it felt like she was just beginning,
                    with her wings still wet...
and she breathed deep
and soared
